Resources/Assistance

Parents Place has a library of resources available to the community.  Our staff can help educate, provide resources and support, and search for funding for the purchase of new resources.  Taking advantage of this library may help you find answers to all your family and child development questions.  Come in with your questions; and if Parents’ Place does not have the resources you need, they may be able to tell you who does.  For resource information, contact Tina at ext #3, or come in during our hours of operation.

Resource Library

We have a wide variety of over 400 books to choose from!

Including a huge selection of board books, cloth books, pop up books, and many classic stories and soon to be classics!  Also, we stock many special interest books on a variety of occasions, holidays, and situations that children and families may be going through...such as the book "Where do Babies Come From?"

Ask about children's videos and music CDs. Our Lending Library is growing all the time!  Search our list of books, or come in and check it out!

Other available resources:

• Costume Exchange, Snowsuit Exchange & Skate Exchange - Donations are regularly accepted and participants are welcome to take what they need.  At Halloween, a special effort is made to exchange costumes, helping parents reduce costs. Before winter, a snowsuit and skate drive is conducted and parents can exchange outgrown sizes for more appropriate ones.
   
• Christmas Adopt-A-Family - Families are anonymously matched with sponsors and are able to receive gifts, food, and more through this program.  Local businesses, families, and charitable organizations contribute to making this program a success.
   
• Milk and Diapers - Available on an emergency basis only. Helps families with formula, diapers and baby food.  Local donations help maintain the supply for this program
   
• School Supply Drive - Providing some school supplies for families in need.  Supplies or funds are contributed by local business/individuals.
   
• Community Garden - The garden is located on the corner of Barnard and Prince Street and is available to anyone in the community who is interested in learning to plant and maintain a garden, as well as learning how to use what is harvested.  This project has been a partnership between TREPA, Parents' Place, and The Tri-County Woman's Centre.  Call the director at ext. #1.
   
• Shopping on a Budget - A three session program where we will assist you in making your own budget, share shopping tips, and talk about how to make those dollars stretch.  The first session will be on shopping tips, the second will be budget making, and the last will be a follow-up session on how everyone made out and where to go from there.
   
• Training Facility - available to the community for use.  Please call the office manager at ext. #0 for details.
